Today, I am going to address an extremely serious topic. I know this is controversial, but I think this has to be said.
If you are going to make tea, you should not, nay, cannot leave the tea bag in for more than five minutes.
I see people every day with thermos of tea, and they will leave the tea bag in all day. This is disgusting. It ruins the subtlety of the flavor, and is the reason why some people think they don't like tea.
White tea usually needs to seep for thirty seconds to a minute and a half. Green, one to three minutes. Black is typically between three and five minutes, and herbal teas can vary greatly. But seriously, seeping time is right on the box.
This is single-handedly making the United States a mockery on the world stage. Countries where the people know how to brew tea judge us harshly. It's bad enough we use tea bags instead of loose leaves, but to leave the tea bag in the water for hours? Nay, good sir! I shall not be part of your shenanigans! It is time for us to take a pledge; may all those who are willing to commit to this great cause comment on this post promising to end this devastating beverage abuse.
Be a responsible citizen. Don't over-steep your tea.
