And this is why you do not have friends.

My problem with santorum:  It's really hard to wash out of the sheets (or so I'm told).
My issue with Rick Santorum is that he says very hateful things and claims that they are appropriate because of his religious affiliations.  Yes, he does have the freedom of speech.  He can, and does, say whatever he wants, and I am not contesting that.

What I object to is the number of supporters he has, which is incredibly depressing.  The knowledge that there are so many people out there fighting against your fundamental freedoms sends a powerfully negative message to LGBTQ youth.  To say that you are not homophobic, you just don't support the rights of gay people is idiotic.  You cannot claim that you feel all people are equal when working so hard to deny thousands of people opportunities, when your hateful messages contribute to the bullying of LGBTQ students, and when these messages are so deeply ingrained into our society.

I don't think that everyone has to be politically correct.  You can say whatever you want.  You can believe whatever you want, as long as you've thought it through and have a solid rationale.  Just don't be a liar, and don't be a hypocrite, and still expect people to support you.  You can't put yourself on a pulpit and exclaim your views and not expect criticism.
